1/8/2023 0 Comments Webuilder turn on word wrapThere were many, many examples where I felt like I was fighting WordPress to do simple things that would have literally taken 5-10 minutes in a framework like Laravel. ![]() When you have a tight time budget, you can't afford to go down many of those rabbit holes. Or you might straight-up burn 8 hours only to realize you can't actually do what they need, and that 8 hours is basically wasted. That's where you can burn 40 hours of a 200 hour budget without blinking. While you can get plugins to customize it further, the instant a client wants something the plugin doesn't allow for, you now have to snap the latex gloves on and get proctological with WordPress or that particular plugin. WordPress follows a pretty rigid URL structure for its pages and categories. One example being very specific about the URL structure for their content. ![]() ![]() In reality, when you looked at the statement of work from the client, they wanted shit that in their minds was simple, but in reality was something that WordPress made obnoxiously hard. There was a misconception that was held by both clients and my managers that WordPress is faster because "most of it is done for you already". IF this assumption holds true, then WordPress is fine.īut when I worked in the client services industry, that assumption rarely ever held true.
